AIA Indianapolis Women in Architecture Fall Program – The Work and Influence of Avriel Shull

This presentation will examine the work and influence of Avriel Shull, a designer, builder, and developer who helped introduce residential modernism to Central Indiana from the 1950s through the 1970s. Participants will explore how Shull’s approach differed from the traditional homes and conventional ranch-style developments common in the region, and how her work reflected changing ideas about domestic life, materials, and the relationship between indoor and outdoor space. The program is scheduled for Tuesday, September 1, at the The Tallison Hotel, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel, 10210 Pennsylvania Pkwy, Indianapolis, IN 46280. A happy hour/reception will begin at 5 p.m. Light snacks and beer and wine will be provided to all registered attendees and a one-hour presentation will begin at 6 p.m. Immediately following the program, guided tours of the Tallison Hotel main floor art installations will be offered.
